Opisyal nang umatras sa kanyang kandidatura si SAGIP party-list Rep. at Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta sa kanyang kandidatura sa pagkasenador.
Ito ay ayon sa mamamahayag na si Anthony “Ka Tunying” Taberna na ibinahagi pa sa mga netizens ang statement of withdrawal ni Marcoleta na ipinasa nito noong Abril 21.
Agad naman daw inaprubahan ng Commission on Elections (COMELEC) en banc ang nasabing pag-atras ni Marcoleta na nakilala dahil sa kanyang imbestigasyon sa prangkisa ng ABS-CBN.
Dahil dito ay kung mayroong boboto kay Marcoleta ay ituturing na lamang itong ‘stray votes’ at hindi na bibilangin ng COMELEC.
Umaasa naman ang mga tagasuporta ni Marcoleta na mailalagay siya sa cabinet position kung sakali na manalo ang pambato ng Uniteam na sina Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at Sara Duterte.
“Sad yo say that Dante Marcoleta is out of the senate race as he withdraws since April 21st actually but it just confirmed tonight from his fellow INC member and broadcaster Anthony Taberna, the good news is that he will be a great addition to the cabinet of BBM administration!” ani netizen shiningtwicexo.
“If Marcoleta withdraws, then someone from PDP’s slate can officially enter UniTeam. Cong Marcoleta meanwhile can immediately get a cab sec position where he can increase people awareness for him, come 2025 he can run and surely win a Senate post.” sabi ni @conde_polavieja.
“Imagine the horror for ABS if Cong Marcoleta gets a position such as NTC etc,” dagdag niya pa.
Ayon sa kampo ni Marcoleta ay ang mababang rating na nakuha ng kongresista sa survey ang naging dahilan kung bakit ito umatras sa kanyang pagtakbo.
“After a grueling 4-month campaign sorties in several parts of the country, where he spoke before large crowds Uniteam and PDP-Laban rallies, Deputy Speaker Dante Marcoleta decided to drop his senatorial bid for the May 9, 2022 polls,” saad ng kampo ni Marcoleta.
“Citing poor showing in running surveys conducted by various polsters, Marcoleta said that “the fighter in me should also be brave enough to read the writings on the wall. Let’s call a spade a spade.” dagdag pa nila.
Pinasalamatan naman ni Marcoleta si Pangulong Duterte, PDP-Laban, People’s Reform Party at UniTeam sa kanyang natanggap na suporta.
