Makukulong? Dating ABS-CBN reporter na si Charie Villa, posibleng kasuhan matapos tawagin ang isang prosecutor na ‘fake news peddler’

Isang dating mamamahayag ng ABS-CBN ang nanganganib na makasuhan ng libel matapos nitong ilabas ang listahan ng mga diumano’y ‘fake news peddler’ na binabayaran upang magkalat ng mga maling impormasyon sa social media.

Sa isang Facebook post, ibinahagi ni Charie Villa ang listahan ng mga personalidad at Facebook page na nagkakalat ng maling impormasyon at fake news.

“Here is a list of fake news peddlers. Beware,” ayon sa orihinal na caption ni Villa.

Pumalag naman ang ilan sa mga nasa listahan kasama na ang senior prosecutor ng Department of Justice (DOJ) na si Atty. Darwin Canete.

Ayon kay Canete ay noon pa lamang talaga ay nambabatikos na siya ng mga politiko sa social media kaya’t madali niya na lamang na mapapatunayan na hindi siya binabayaran para manira.

“I can easily prove that i do not peddle fake news. I have a full time job and my socmed is a personal account. I do not make money off of it. My timeline has been consistent since 2006. I post the same things before the Dilawans have decided to label people who do not conform to their narratives as “ trolls.” ani Canete.

“Show me a transaction where BBM or PRRD paid me to post for them. We can debate about what is “fake news.” But “fake news peddler?” Binabayaran ako para mag post ng fake news as per your post? Paliwanag mo sa judge. Clear your schedule. This will take up your time po.” dagdag niya pa.

Posible niya ring kasuhan ang ilan sa mga nag-comment sa post ni Villa dahil sa diumano’y sinabi nila na nakakatanggap siya ng sweldo sa pagkakalat ng maling impormasyon.

“I would like to ask for screenshots in the comment thread of Charie Villa’s post. I am thinking of including libelous comments of her commenters in my draft. Thank you. Screenshots of their respective FB accounts too. I can’t do it myself because i was blocked. Thanks!! Example sent to me:” sabi pa ng prosecutor.

Nagbigay narin ng tugon ang abogado na si Atty. Ferdinand Topacio kung saan sinabihan nito si Canete na maari ngang makasuhan si Villa ng cyberlibel.

Sa ngayon ay wala pang tugon ang dating ABS-CBN journalist sa kasong kakaharapin niya.
