Pinalagan ni Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines President Bishop Pablo Virgilio David ang kampo ni presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Matatandaan na nitong nakaraang mga araw ay hinimok ni Atty. Vic Rodriguez, tagapagsalita ni Marcos ang Simbahang Katoliko na tigilan na ang pakikisali sa politika.
“We are saddened by the men and women of the Catholic clergy who are doing the exact opposite and have abused the pulpit, allowing it to become a platform for hateful and negative campaigning.” ani Rodriguez.
“As men and women of the cloth, they should be more circumspect, refrain from openly meddling with politics and stop making reckless imputation or statement that only serves as a spiritual, moral, social and cultural poison,” dagdag niya pa.
Ngunit ayon kay David, hindi naman totoo ang sinasabi ni Rodriguez na nagpapakalat ang Simbahang Katoliko ng poot.
Ayon sa kanila ay ang tangi lamang nilang kalaban ay si Satanas na diumano’y natutuwa kapag ginagamit ang social media sa pagpapakalat ng kasinungalingan.
“No, we don’t foment hatred. That’s unChristian,” ani David. “The only enemy we are taught to renounce is Satan—who is the prince of lies and who alone is happy when the social media are used to spread lies and disinformation,” ani David.
Hindi naman kinumpirma ni David kung si Marcos ba ang sinasabi niyang si ‘Satanas’
Sa ngayon ay wala pang tugon ang kampo ni Marcos tungkol sa pahayag ni David.
