Hindi nakapagpigil ang isang netizen na batikusin ang ginawang paggamit ng tambalan ni Vice President Leni Robredo at Senador Kiko Pangilinan sa pulpito ng Simbahan nitong Marso 1.
Matatandaan na naging kontrobersyal ang ilang larawan na lumabas sa social media kung saan makikita si Robredo at Pangilinan na nagsasalita sa pulpito ng Cathedral-Shrine and Parish of the Good Shepherd in Fairview, Quezon City.
Sa kanyang Facebook post, ipinaliwanag ni Johnny Sniper Coquilla kung ano nga ba ang halaga ng pulpito ng simbahan na dapat ay hindi ginagamit sa mga hindi naman talaga mahahalagang bagay na labas sa pananampalataya ng mga katoliko.
“The pulpit is NOT the place for opinion, philosophy, secular thought, debate, business or any non-biblical event. ✓The Preaching of the Whole Counsel of God –Acts 20:21 -1 Corinthians 1:17 -2 Timothy 4:2 ✓The Pulpit must be empowered by the Holy Spirit –1 Thess. 1:5,” sabi ni Coquilla.
“THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE PULPIT A. To Make an Impact for Christ B. To Reveal the Truth of God C. To Identify the Sin and Errors of the World,” dagdag pa niya.
Ibinahagi ni Coquilla ang kanyang pagkadismaya dahil tila ginagamit na daw sa politika ang loob mismo ng simbahan at ang pulpito na dapat ay para lamang sa pagbabahagi ng salita ng Diyos.
Sinabi din nito na mayroong batas na naghihiwalay sa simbahan at sa gobyerno.
“Yet Catholic Church used it for their political motives and benefits? Where is the dignity we hold right now? Where is the word of GOD we used to preach to the people.” sabi ni Coquilla.
“In Article II (Declaration of Principles), Section 6, the Constitution states: “The separation of Church and State shall be inviolable.” The application of this principle could be readily seen in the Omnibus Election Code, which disallows religious groups from registering as political parties, intervening in village-level elections, raising campaign funds, as well as coercing subordinates to vote for or against any candidate (Pangalangan 2015, p. 566).” dagdag pa niya.
Tinawag niya rin ang atensyon ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) at tinanong kung nahihibang na ba sila para hayaan lamang na gamitin ang templo ng Diyos.
Ayon sa kampo ni Robredo ay isang pribadong pagtitipon ang “Conversation and Prayer for VP Leni” na dinaluhan ng mga religious leaders sa Metro Manila.
