Binatikos ni former presidential spokesperson at ngayo’y senatorial candidate na si Salvador Panelo ang law professor ng Ateneo de Manila University na balak ibagsak ang kanyang mga estudyante kapag naging katulad ng batikang abogado.
Matatandaan na naging usap usapan sa social media ang naging tweet ni Prof. Ryan Quan na sinabing mas pipiliin niya na lamang na bumagsak ang mga estudyante niya kaysa sa maging katulad nila senatorial candidates Harry Roque, Larry Gadon at Panelo.
“I always tell my students (quite bluntly) that if they feel like they will end up being like Roque (or Gadon, Panelo, & the like) when they become lawyers to do the legal profession & Philippine society a favor and tell me. I’d gladly fail them.” ani Quan sa kanyang burado na ngayon na tweet.
Si Panelo ang unang nagbigay ng tugon sa mga nabanggit ni Quan at sinabi na hindi katanggap tanggap ang basehan ng propesor na ibagsak ang kanyang mga estudyante base sa paniniwala nila.
“Atty. Quan, there’s nothing wrong with expressing your political views or personal opinions about other people. Your freedom to do so is of course guaranteed by the Constitution, subject to libel laws.” ani Panelo.
“But to fail students “gladly” based on your prejudices? Such bigotry has no place in any classroom, much less in a law school that should be teaching respect for others’ beliefs. It’s abusive and coercive, and contrary to the ideals that Ateneo, as an esteemed educational institution, should stand for.” dagdag pa niya.
Dahil dito ay tinawag ni Panelo ang atensyon ng Ateneo Law School upang aksyunan si Quan dahil sa pagbabanta nito sa kanyang mga estudyante.
“I therefore call on Ateneo Law School to subject Atty. Quan to disciplinary proceedings for his admission which constitutes violations of the Ethical Standards of Conduct for Law Professors, particularly his duties to treat students with courtesy and fairness, encourage free exchange of ideas, ensure that his evaluation of students reflect each student’s true merit, and not to discriminate, degrade, demean, or shame a student for any reason.” sabi ng abogado.
Samantala ay ipinagtanggol din ni Panelo si Roque at sinabi na ang pagsasayaw ng kapwa niya kandidato sa mga campaign rally ay parte ng pagbibigay saya sa mga botante na katulad ng sinusuportahang kandidato ni Quan na si presidential candidate Leni Robredo na naglabas din ng kanyang ‘hadouken’ video.
Dahil daw sa mga sinasabi ng mga katulad ni Quan ay lalo lamang daw lumalayo ang loob ng mga botante kay Robredo.
“It is this arrogant, intolerant, and toxic attitude of VP Leni supporters like Atty. Quan that is alienating most of the electorate. It’s no wonder that the candidates espousing unity and respect for others are leading the polls.” saad ni Panelo.
Sa ngayon ay wala pang sagot si Quan sa banat sa kanya ng kilalang abogado.
