Dahil sa kontrobersiya na kinakaharap ngayon ni Socrates Villegas ay bumalik muli sa isipan ng ilang netizens ang open letter na ibinahagi noon ng alkalde ng Davao City na si Inday Sara Duterte para sa nasabing arsobispo ng Lingayen-Dagupan.
Sa nasabing open letter na isinulat ni Inday Sara nitong 2017 ay matapang na binatikos ng alkalde si Villegas na noon pa man ay kritiko na ng mga Duterte.
Ayon kasi noon kay Villegas ay winasak daw ng ama ni Inday Sara ang alaala ng EDSA revolution.
Ngunit banat naman ni Inday Sara, kahit pa daw magkaroon ng isang daang Pangulong Duterte ay hindi daw nito mapapantayan ang kasamaan ni Villegas.
Paliwanag ng alkalde ay kahit noon pa man na hindi pa namumuno ang kanyang ama sa bansa ay kaliwa’t kanan na ang nangyayaring kasamaan sa Pilipinas.
Hindi rin daw nito maintindihan kung bakit laging nagiging basehan ang EDSA ng kalayaan ng bansa.
“I find it hard to understand why this bloodless revolution has become the standard definition of freedom for our country and this standard is forced down our throats by a certain group of individuals who think they are better than everyone else. These are the elite and their friends, including Archbishop Villegas,” ani Inday Sara.
Sinabi din ni Inday Sara na kaya’t nanalo ang kanyang ama ay dahil din sa mga taong katulad ni Villegas na diumano’y hindi pinansin ang kamalian na nangyayari sa mundo.
“He won the Presidency precisely because you ignored what was wrong with this world. All you desired was to put into power a leader who walks and talks like you — someone who is definitely not Rodrigo Duterte.
“Your group is sadly a bunch of delusional hypocrites. While all of you were up there riding high on your horses, you failed to notice that many of us down here emphathize with what Rodrigo Duterte is saying because it is the hard truth. It is truly without the air of hypocrisy that we smell from your kind.
“How dare you call us pimps of the EDSA spirit and yet it is you who cannot accept what has happening to our country since 1986.”
Naniniwala din si Inday Sara na alam ng kanyang ama kung ano ang espiritu ng EDSA.
“My father perfectly understood what the spirit of EDSA is, otherwise, he would not have told me to never forget that night of 31 years ago. And I now believe that he understands it better than you do. You preach about freedom as if you invented it, as if it is your gift to us. Let me tell you what freedom is.
It is to live a life that is free from your selective moral standrd. This is what the meaning of EDSA is.” sabi pa ng alkalde.
“Unforunately for you Archbishop VIllegas, this is not a biased commentary on your letter to the dead because I am not a fan of President Duterte. But you are truly, madly, deeply worse than a hundred President Dutertes,” dagdag niya pa.
Nag viral ang nasabing open letter ni Inday Sara na ngayon ay burado na, ngunit marami ng kopya nito na kumalat sa social media.
Matatandaan na pinag uusapan ngayon si Villegas dahil sa kanyang pahayag tungkol sa vote buying.
“You may accept the money, but not because you promise to fulfill your end of the deal, but because you are in dire need for yourself and your family. You are not obliged to fulfill an immoral, illegal contract. This means, when something bad was agreed upon, something awful is asked of you, so whatever you do, choose God, not the candidate buying your vote,” ani Villegas.
